On April 3rd, a case of many people being infected by the coronavirus in one place, also known as a cluster, was identified in Shiga.

In order to avoid the spread of the virus, we ask for your cooperation in doing the following:
  1. Avoid travel to areas with high levels of infection, that is to say Hokkaido, Saitama, Chiba, Tokyo, Kanagawa, Aichi, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo and Fukuoka prefectures.
  2. Do your best to fend off the virus by properly washing your hands, respecting coughing and sneezing etiquette, and eating and sleeping well.
  3. Do not go to places that are poorly ventilated, crowded and confined. For the foreseeable future, do not visit restaurants or karaoke places at night.
  4. If you have flu symptoms, a fever of 37.5℃ or over lasting for 4 days or more, extreme fatigue, shortness of breath or breathing difficulties, it is crucial that you contact the Center for returnees and people who’ve come in contact with the infected before visiting a designated hospital or clinic for an exam. If you do not speak Japanese, please call the Shiga Foreign Residents Information Center.

We will do our best to continue giving out information as it becomes available. Let’s all do our best together.

MIKAZUKI Taizo, Governor of Shiga
